Well, Google had shut-down my GV account during this process so I couldn't retrieve the code. After creating the new password Google sent a code to the 2nd step of my verification - Google Voice. I couldn't remember my password so went through the steps to create a new one. For some reason Google, I can't remember exactly why now, asked me to log into my account while I was just browsing. I had a frightening experience over the weekend with my Google account.
